Rocket Knights: Rise of the Black Knights

"Sure." The brother said as he opened the door to Spike's resting room where he was asleep. "Just... Try to let him sleep first. That's all I ask." He lets the two Rocket Knights in.

Kohaku nodded as she quietly walked into the room to make to look over Spike without disturbing his slumber. He seemed to be okay, a few bruises here and there, but even she had a few from the accident when she jumped at him. Kaji looked him over as well and then looked to see his "piece of junk" armor. He was able to see what the problem was no problem, but fixing it for him right now would probably make too much noise. He saw that there was a note pad with, what he could only assume was his name written on the cover, on the work desk next to it, and then reached for a pen and proceeded to write down a note for Spike. The not read as follows.

Dear Spike,

My name is Kaji Firestone, a Rocket Knight. You may not remember but I was there when you had your accident earlier, when my friend Kohaku, the feline, tried to pull you down to the ground safely. I think you have great potential yourself, and I would like you to come down by the Zebulan Fields tomorrow, where we will begin training new recruits. I also took a look at your rocket boots. I believe the problem is a fuel or oil leak, which may have caused one of them to go out on you. If you'd like to learn more, please accept my invitation.

Kaji set the note on Spike's night stand, and then motioned Kohaku to follow him. he then looked to the brother.

"Thank you for allowing us to check on him."

"He seems to be alright, I hope to see him tomorrow at training, but if he needs more rest, than it would be better if he stays home until he's better."

Kohaku and Kaji smiled and said good bye before leaving. Their next stop would be the Armor Smith's shop, to see about obtaining or at least fitting Kohaku for a suit of armor.

Some time later, they come across the blacksmith's shop, then sent inside to take a look around before it closed. Kohaku took a good look around and saw lots of different armors, some looked really heavy, and others seemed to be more her size.

As everyone was cleaning up the kitchen and dining room, Lucas asked a question that had been bugging him for a while.

"Hey, Booster. Are you ever going to be a rocket knight?"

Booster looked to his younger brother and simply shook his head.

"I always wanted to when I was about your age, but someone has to help mom around the house and on the farm." He explained. Then Stella laughed.

"Son, there is no need to worry about me, besides, your father manages too pull off being both a Rocket Knight and a Farmer just fine" Stella smiled. "There's nothing stopping you if that's what you want to do."

Booster looked to his mother and then thought on it for a little bit. His mother had a point. Sparkster was always able to do both things he loved and much more all at the same time for years. He could at least try to follow suit, and in his father's footsteps.

"Alright then, I'll try it, besides.. I always wanted to know what it was like to fly a rocket myself."

Suddenly, Sparkster embraced both of the boys with a chuckle.

"I'm so glad that you both wanna be like your dad. I'm so proud of you two."

"Aw, Dad. We can't help it. You're too awesome to not imitate!"

Meanwhile Anvil Smith was preparing to close down his workshop. He was a quite chubby and strong wearing a leather apron and gloves. His fur was mostly grey with a few brownish spots. He was putting out the fire he used to forge before. His workshop was in a simple stone house in which he also lived. Lots of tools were neatly aranged on the walls, as well as swords and armour parts in various stages of completion. He wiped off his gloves before entering the shop.

As he sees Kaji the Rocket Knight in his shop he faints and "plays".

Kohaku heard a thump on the ground as Anvil fainted, she walked over to his location, which was by the door where he had just entered. She saw the spotted Opossum laying on the floor and she curiously crouched down beside him to poke him.

"Hey..." Kohaku says as she pokes at Anvil's cheek "You alright there? You alive?"

After not getting an immediate response, Kohaku looked over to Kaji.

"Master Kaji! Over here, I think this is the black smith, he seems to be unconscious.."

Kaji walked over to where Kohaku was and face palmed himself as he saw Anvil "Playing"

"I've heard much of this one.. He builds armors for guards and Rocket Knights, yet whenever a Rocket Knight walks into his store he passes out. Though, I'm not sure if it's from sheer excitement or if he's just really nervous"

"Aaaaaw... Poor guy..." Kohaku poked at him some more. "Wake up sleepy head!"

"Gah! Gadget Don't do that! It won't do any good anyway, he'll wake up on his own.. besides.." Kaji points to the dowsed forge. "I think he was closing up shop just now we'll have to come back tomorrow."

Stella laughed as her sons were bear hugged by their father. She then looked at the clock on the wall.

"Oh my, it's getting to be about that time already. Lucas, you should get ready for bed dear, you as well Booster. You two are going to have to be up bright and early tomorrow morning."

Booster looked to his mother. "Yes Mom, will do!" He smiled as he ran up to the wash room to brush his teeth and whatnot before going into his room and getting his night clothes on and hopping into bed.

"OK! Goodnight Mom, goodnight Dad!", Lucas said as he hugged them and kissed them on the cheek and went upstairs.

"sLEep wITh luCAs, b0ING! g0 gEt reADy. g00dNIGht g00dNIGht, diNG!", Mr. Saturn said before going upstairs.

"Stella, I'm a little worried about Lucas. Ever since...that day...he's been very clingy with me. Why do you think that is?

"Good night dear" Stella said to Lucas as he scampered up stairs.

Stella looked to Sparkster, someone confused by his statement.

"He's still young, and I imagine that whatever happened to him with his late family may have left him scared in some way... even after all this time.. He is just looking for the same thing every child his age would want.. To know someone cares about them.."

Stella paused a moment. "What exactly is it that has you so worried.. Sparkster?"

Sparkster looked at his wife with a look of fear in his eyes.

"We both know that his sanity is on the fragile side. What if something happens to me? What if he goes crazy again? He nearly burned down a forest last time. What if he hurts you and Booster, or anyone else?"

He looked into Stella's eyes, tearing up. "Sometimes I wonder... what if Master Mifune had never found Axel and I? He *sniff* might have lived longer... it's all *sob* my fault... I could have *sob* saved him that night..." He suddenly breaks down crying in his wife's arms.

Stella hugged Sparkster lovingly, as she knew how worried he was.

"Sparkster, Nobody can possibly blame you for Mifune's passing.. It wasn't your fault.. you didn't stick that blade into him.. Axel did... And as for Lucas, It is up to us to teach him.. to love him, and hope that our influence teaches him to control that power of his for the sake of those he cares about. No matter what happens. And if he does go mad like he did before, than we will still love him, and hope that things do not end as tragically as it could have before.."

Booster was laying down on his bunk as he could hear his parents talking, and his father crying.. He wasn't sure what it was about exactly, but there were only a few things that could make him cry that way.. One of which was when he was mourning his late master, and foster father, Mifune.

"..."

"Oh, Stella... I love you...", Sparkster said as he kissed Stella. "What do you say we go get some 'sleep'? I'll let you ride my 'rocket'.", Sparkster said with a wink.

After a while Anvil woke up again. "Damn", he thought. Regaining his posture he looked at the clock and decided to finally close down for the day. He locked the door and walked to his private area. This was a lot cleaner, but still had a certain utilitarian aura to it you'd expect from a technically minded single. Before fixing himself some food, he opened the doors of a cabinet. He proudly smiled at what was inside.

*Sparkster's house*

Stella kissed Sparkster back, and smiled. "I'll meet you up there then, but, we should probably wait a little while"

Stella went up stairs to the master bedroom.

Meanwhile Kohaku and Kaji had returned home, the Twins had already been put to bed, and Julia had fixed a bed for Kohaku and was waiting.

"Did you two find what you were looking for?" Julia asked.

"We did, but the shop was closed, so we'll have to go there tomorrow."

"How is she going to train without armor?"

"We'll figure something out. Besides, there's no rush. We're only going to start with basic combat anyway."

"I see, well I've made a bed for Kohaku in the guest room. I hope it's comfortable enough."

"Thank you Julia. I'm going to turn in for the night Good night everyone." Kohaku ran up the stairs and into the guest room. She saw that Julia had laid out some more clothes for her. She also saw that the clothes she had on before were cleaned and had been fixed of it's tears. She changed into something to sleep in and then went to bed.

Kaji and Julia soon went to sleep as well in their own room.

After Stella went upstairs, Sparkster went over to the window and looked at the night sky. It was a clear sky with a crescent moon and many stars.

"Mom, Dad, Master Mifune... can you hear me? I haven't talked to you in a while. I have a wonderful wife and a beautiful son. I also took in a another little boy. He's the spitting image of me, for some reason. I love him just as much as Booster. I'm extremely proud of both of them... just like you were proud of Axel and I, Master. Sometimes I wonder... are you still proud of us? Mom... Dad... Master... am I still your little boy? Goodnight... I love you."

Sparkster then went upstairs and snuck in the boys' room and kissed each sleeping boy's forehead. He then went to the door to the master bedroom. He stood outside and took a deep breath. It had been a long time since he and Stella eloped. He wondered if he was still any good. He digressed, put a devilish smile on his face, and opened the door.
